Sometimes I feel like borrowing my man's tees. I can't help it, they are too fun/geek to be indifferent and with each and every one I end up willing to wear them. What was I thinking about this tee when he chose it ??? That it was absolutely horrible, I hated it, except for the colour. But watching this creepy zombie on him kind of exorcised my fear/hatred and I completely changed my mind. Do you remember when your mother was showing you how to do your make up ? Mine never did, make up isn't her cup of tea, so her signature make up is her eyes lined with khol. I learned everything by myself with the help of my dear friend Youtube ! And two weeks ago my role changed and I became the professor/mother and showed some basic eye make up to my sister in law (she is 15 btw). Of course smoky eye was part of this demonstration, and this make up is how it turned out. It was the most classical smoky eye but I added a twist at the end : - I made a base with my lancome black khol pencil - used some black and grey from a sleek palette on top of this base - then I blended the contours with a cream coloured eye shadow and also put it under my eyebrow as a highlighter At the end I couldn't resist a bit of fantasy and added Urban Decay baked eyeshadow just above my iris for a bit of gold and then put on some glitter liner from Urban Decay. So what do you think of this smoky eye demonstration ? Isn't it the perfect party make up ? Winter is almost over now but it is still important (especially in the morning) to wear warm clothes. What better way to be stylish and warm than to wear my plaid poncho ? For many people, warm means no style : look at the fashion shows, there is almost no inspiration for a cold winter day to be found. Sandals and bare feet in open shoes in the snow ? It has been a looooong time since my last nailpolish tutorial, if I wasn't wearing my nails bare I was always wearing the same rouge noir nailpolish - it's a bit boring for you so I didn't do any focus on it, but yesterday I fell in love with a photo of cracked nails and couldn't resist doing mine the same way. I looked up for my cracked nailpolish and did this manicure ! So now the best part is how do you do it too ?! It's easy, only two steps required : Step 1/ Apply a light nailpolish of your choice until it's opaque (apply as many coats as needed but let it dry completely before step 2) - the one that I use is a mavala nailpolish for the Elle UK, it's a beautiful blue grey Step 2/ Apply a cracked nailpolish of your choice - mine is a Barry M and is working well, but I know that many other brands are doing those nailpolishes in many colours, so just choose yours ! And the result in my opinion is just fantastic, I will love my nails for a few days that's for sure. Another thing is sure, I'm gonna try it again with some of my other light nailpolishes. Mixing prints can mean big fun, or BIG mistake ! Of course we all mean fun when we mix and match but sometimes it falls short from what we expected and turns out awful. That's the reason why I can be turned down by prints, leopard on me ? humm no way (even if I would love that) ! And that's for this exact same reason that I (often) don't have the courage to experiment with what I have. Isn't this sweater just the coolest ? And the message is so true to me. When I heard for the first time about dropping Yves in "Yves Saint Laurent" for "Saint Laurent Paris" it was such a heresy to me. How can you do that ? Isn't the name Yves Saint Laurent a powerful statement ? It's not just a trademark or a brand, it's the name of a person who changed the face of fashion and Prêt à Porter. Yves Saint Laurent is an icon and his own house betrayed his name and memory, this is what this means to me ! Maybe Yves would accept this change if he was still there, but without his legitimacy I can't accept this change. I know that it was Hedi Slimane who asked for this change, but I am sorry to say he is quite a diva to me, especially with how he reacted after his first show at "Saint Laurent Paris" (which in my opinion wasn't good except for the hats, I love this come back of the smokings, but his weren't original and it's not his that are my dreamed ones). I haven't been wearing many hats lately although I have been dying for a beanie for a year (look at that board from a year ago, and this one). And I still haven't got one (no money means no beanie) : yes I can be very patient, but I know that someday sooner than later one will be mine ! Nevertheless I am still a huge fan of hats and I should wear mine more often as they give such a unique feel to any outfit (+ it keeps your head warm in winter) but I was too frustrated with not having a beanie, always thinking "I should wear a hat today", and the conclusion was always "with a beanie it would be SO perfect", obsessions I guess can't be good when dressing up. My hair has been bothering me for some time now, I was tired of taking care of it, and it was so long that sometimes I was pulling my own hair by mistake ! Don't take me wrong I love having long hair, I just grew tired of it after a decade with the same head. It became a bit boring at last and even if it took me almost a year to finally be able to change my hair (I was immensely scared), I am glad I did it. I really like my hair as it is at the moment and even if at some point I will most likely want long hair again I am really pleased with this change ! It was strange the first weeks, but now I am used to its new length and I love it. That's a lot of "hair" in a single post, but I wanted to share this experience with you, it is not the easiest thing to do to change your appearance this dramatically, especially when you can't go back easily and you hated your hair last time it was short, but sometimes change is for the best and here it was clearly ! Sweetness is today's theme, perfect for the holiday season right ? So what about a delicious flourless and fondant chocolate cake, perfect to empty my cupboards and for gluten intolerants ! Another specificity of this cake is that you can't make a cake more simple than this one, only three instructions and you are done, even a beginner cook would achieve it easily ! Ingredients : - 45g unsweetened cocoa powder - 125g caster sugar - 115g unsalted butter - 2 medium eggs Optional (but if you use the sodium bicarbonate you must use the lemon juice too) : - 1/2 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate - 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice Instructions : - melt the butter - whisk together all the ingredients with the melted butter and finally add the sodium bicarbonate - pour in a silicone baking tin or in a baking tin buttered and powdered with cocoa - bake for 30 to 45 minutes (depending on the height of your cake) at 150°C You can decorate your cake with some icing sugar and tadaa all you have to do is enjoy your cake. Today's post is all about my makeup corner ! If there is one spot that I love in my flat, it's definitely my makeup corner ! It's my spot, most of the time it is a bit messy, but it's here that many of the little things I love are gathered ! I prefer to do my makeup here rather than in my bathroom, I can sit, be at ease and see what I do precisely with my magnifying mirror, and most importantly there is natural lightning (except during winter). My aim in this post was also to talk about my favourite makeup products : - from a foundation point of view my favourite is Nars Sheer Glow, unfortunately I ran out of it and don't have the money to purchase it again. So at the moment I am using Gemey Maybeline Pure Fluide Mineral, that I find quite good and it doesn't mark my dry skin (unlike Nars's) ; - about concealers, my top one is Bobbi Brown's creamy concealer : well pigmented, creamy, it has a tendancy to move to fine lines but my sensitive eyes have no problem tolerating it (unlike YSL touche eclat for example which is a nightmare for my eyes and some others), don't worry I don't put it into my eye ahah ; - my all time favourite blush is without a doubt Benefit's Coralista, even if I love Sleek makeup blushes which are really pigmented and a lot cheaper too especially if you add a tiny bit of MAC mineralize Skinfinish for a glowy finish ♥ ; - my favourite eyeshadow palette is without any doubt Too Faced Naked eye : it combines all I want from a palette, beautiful colours easy to mix together, a well pigmented black, matt eyeshadows and a beautiful highlighter which I use so often that you can definitely tell it's my favourite (with the black) by how much I have used already ; - my favourite lipstick to my amazement is my MUA red/burgundy lipstick, to my amazement because it's my cheapest lipstick (bargain at 1£) and it is nevertheless the one I enjoy wearing the most. It's my colour. Another lipstick that I really like with a more neutral shade is my Naked lipstick by Urban Decay, it's hydrating and creamy, perfect to boost your lips naturally without anyone noticing you are wearing lipstick. To keep me a bit warmer I added a black jacket that I had forgotten for a year and a half in a box... This time I am all in black, and the only touch of colour is my red lipstick. I think that this lipstick is now my favourite, I love this shade and I think that it suits me well. Most of all it wears off beautifully, with a quick touch up you are ready (even without it after eating or drinking it would look OK). Let's talk about the Basketball Arena : I wanted to see the USA-France and Spain-China matches but instead we saw the Russia-Team GB and Argentina-Lituania ! These matches were fantastic, especially the second one but Team GB supporters were so amazing ! Argentina was very astonishing with a festival of 3 points (even with the Lituanian supporters deafeningly loud, but what an ambiance), the commentator even said "it's raining 3 points on London toniiight" !! Russia and Argentina are very good teams and were both in the Bronze medal match ! I also loved the cheerleaders' performances, and I didn't leave the arena one second ! At the end of the two matches we had the chance to see the olympic park by night, which was magical. I can't realise that it is already over ! Olympic Games draw to close, and I wanted to acknowledge the amazing work and passion that laid behind it ! I have been impressed by so many athletes especially French and English ones (this is where my heart belongs). I enjoyed watching so many performances : basketball, diving, swimming, gymnastics, etc. One more time these games were amazing, but this time I was able to be a part of it which was a dream come true ! The Olympic Park was beautiful, all those wildflowers, the architecture and all the amazingly nice volunteers who made this possible. I am a bit disappointed that I was not able to see more performances but the reservation process was so complex and costly too. These games were fantastic and they will stay in my heart as a truly unique experience, especially as they took place in my new hometown that I love so much ! So now let's enjoy the closing ceremony, can't wait for the amazing music and performances ! Today I had blue hair ! I am not crazy, I haven't decided to destroy my hair (although I am hesitating a lot about cutting my hair at the moment), it is in fact a temporary coloration, the "Color Rub". I think that it should be compared to makeup, in my opinion it is makeup for your hair because of the packaging but also because of its ease of use and its way of transforming your hair for one day in minutes, exactly as makeup do for your eyes and face. The most important thing when using it is to get rid of any excess and hair spray your hair to fix the color or it would transfer on your clothes (I didn't do it because I don't like hair spray but it was quite messy). I also would advise to make a ponytail for the day especially if you have long hair, but I am sure that a braid with one strand in blue/yellow would be amazing, I can't wait to try it (it would definitely be my next experiment, and then with a bun). The best part is that it would come off with shampoo. It could be possible that you must wash your hair twice or thrice to get rid of all the color, but it is a minor drawback in my opinion (especially since I am always washing my hair two times, it won't change anything). I have to say that I am quite impressed and that I really like this product : it has a very good pigmentation, it is so easy to use, quite natural as it is made with chalk and it can change you hair so quickly. The biggest drawback is to have to hairspray your hair, oh and the yellow one doesn't apply as smoothly as the blue one but nothing annoying either, it is still beautiful. Today I wanted to create a more defined makeup than usual. Smoky eyes are the perfect choice for that, so I chose to do a brown and black smoky eye. All the eyeshadows I used were from the Softbox palette by Smartbox (I even used the brush which is quite good !), the only exception is the black Lancome khol pencil I used as a base. You may have noticed that when I do smoky eyes I tend to stretch it over my temples. That's what I like, especially on me, but you can do it more rounded if you prefer. So today I am sharing with you some photos Mathieu and I took when we went to Richmond about a month ago. It is a huge park (you can spend hours outdoors, enjoying fresh air) near Wimbledon where nature is the real master. There are all kinds of animals everywhere, you are completely out of the world and the city, and it feels great. Most of all it was the perfect time to photograph the birds as they were already quite independent but still had their baby's duvet. Perfect time to watch the cycle of life. It was a really great time for both of us, so I highly recommend going there to enjoy fresh air, especially for the Londoners. I wanted to post this article yesterday but internet was down... I received some time ago a sample of Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint SPF 15, so today I am just giving you my opinion after having tested it a few times. So first of all although it is a tinted moisturiser, I find that it has a good coverage, it makes the skin even (my redness disappear and my dark circles are less visible), it doesn't cover all your spots etc. but it is supposed to be the concealer's job. On the texture side, it is a bit thick, and feels a bit heavy on the skin, but although you can feel it on your skin it isn't a bad sensation, it feels like it is protecting the skin. It is nevertheless really easy to apply, even on a dry skin (hydrated of course). It stays on all day and doesn't wear off quickly. I have a dry skin so I have no idea how it wears on oily skin. The finish is quite dewy but not too much, which I really like. On the drawback side, it smells a bit weird like an old woman I would say ??! It also only has 4 colours, but fortunately the lighter "01 Bare" is perfect for my skin colour. Finally it costs £21 for 40 ml, it is 10 ml more than most foundations for about the same price. I think that I will buy it for this summer, it is a very good tinted moisturiser, almost on the light coverage foundation side. In fact, I highly recommend it as a lighter summer foundation, especially since it is buildable. I bought mine at Primark for £1 but I am sure that you could also find it at H&M or maybe Claire's for a quid or so. I hope that everything is clear, if you have any question just ask. Simplicity was the key for this sunday. The other day when it was hotter and sunnier, it was the perfect time to wear my pastel clothes. The only problem was that I wasn't in the mood to wear them although I really wanted to. In fact, I am still in a winter mood, and I want a beanie and a wool coat at the moment (yep call me crazy). But today my mood had changed a little, and I wanted to wear pastel. So let's talk about something else than fashion, but equally "girly" : make up, and more precisely MUA's (Make Up Academy) lipsticks, at £1 each, they are a total bargain and I had to try them. I already talked about these lipsticks when they first appeared on the blog, but I thought it was a good thing to do a quick review. It took me some time to choose the colours I would buy in Superdrug, as a lot of them are very sheer or very shimmery, which I really don't like. I finally chose shades without shimmer and highly pigmented. What I didn't notice at Superdrug as I was trying them on my hand was the smell, they smell vanilla or crème brûlée. To be honest I don't like that my make up contains perfume, there are already so many allergising products, no need to add them in make up products. I also think that perfume is something very personal that you may or may note like, and it is especially not a good idea when it is incorporated in products applied so close to the nose… The first time I tried them on (all at once, one after another), it was a major disaster : they weren't applying correctly, the colour wasn't uniform on my lips, and the smell instantly bothered me. Oh and the packaging isn't the best, I managed to drop one of the lipsticks in my sink and broke a small piece of plastic. But finally my next try (and all the other times I wore MUA lipsticks) went well, I hydrated my lips, and the colour applied perfectly, the lipstick was gliding smoothly on my lips, and the pigmentation was really good. And in fact there is only the smell of one out of the four lipsticks that is bothering me when I am wearing it. I must add that they don't dry except the one that has a stronger smell which dries a bit. In conclusion, this is a good range of lipsticks (especially for the price), but I would advise to carefully pick the shades that you want to buy to be sure to get a good pigmentation. These lipsticks really are a bargain, and are very nice for the price, you can easily treat yourself without any consequence. This time I am wearing my burgundy jeans slightly differently. I find that wearing it with the zippers open gives a really nice twist to the ensemble. The weather was beautiful today, and it was hot too (16°C guys). It was the first taste of spring, even summer. So I decided to try my new sunglasses (I will post more detailed shots later). I love these sunglasses, they remind me of the Wayfarer that I bought and lost two years later on the first day of my trip in Slovenia, glups. So I wanted new Ray Ban, but not exactly the same, because I would be too afraid to lose them again. Yes I am a bit supersticious. I must say that I am pleased with them ! ]]>
